Is there a difference between a 5 speed from an '89 carbed Festiva and one from a '91 EFI Festiva?

Also, is a Festiva 5 speed interchangable with an Aspire 5 speed?

    Thanks for your help

all the five speed should interchange no problem. Someone did a write-up somewhere about swapping the trans...

all manual 5-spds are physicaly the same on the outside, save for the reinforcement ribs that are on the aspire trannys. the internals are different though... the aspire trans is geared slightly higher than the festiva 5 spd. either trans will bolt onto either vehicle w/o changing anything else. on a side note, the 4 spd trans from the festy has the same internals and gearing as the 5 spd save for that last gear.

PS the clutch cable lengths are different between the aspireand the festy

clutch cable shouldn't be much of a problem but if you swap it with that aspire tranny you need to get your speedo reset man.
There is no replacement for displacement, except for the turbo in my basement.

1: first thru fifth gear are the same festiva or aspire.the final drives are different festiva 3.77 aspire 4.05.
2: clutch cable in festiva will work fine with aspire trans.
3: speedo drive gear is the same as festiva,I've pulled drives from three aspires teeth count the same.

Also I have a aspire trans in my car.

does the auto tranny from the aspire bolt up to the festi's?
