    Trans won't shift at all

    89 Festiva L.. 4 speed , The shifter is sloppy and it is stuck in 3rd gear , I looked under the car , the shifter is moving the linkage in and out and turning the linkage into the trans , I can grab the linkage shaft and just move it like it came loose in the trans .

    Is the gate broke inside ??
    Or is there something else that can come loose internally , that would do that ?

    Sounds like maybe the third/fourth gear selector fork broke. But I'm certainly not a transmission expert. Might be time for a trip to the junkyard.

      this is your actual shift pattern inside your trans



      is this the one you needed the locks and steering column for??????
