  • Stubborn CV axle

I'm trying to get the passenger CV axle out of my Festy's blown transmission.

Normally they come out with a pickle fork and a few blows of a hammer, but this one is just plain stuck. I've pried and hammered and took a chunk of metal out of the transmission in the process, but this SOB refuses to budge.

Any suggestions on how to get it off? I'm out of ideas and my knuckles hurt.

    Regards,

    Tim

Probably more easy if you have big flat head crowbar and it pops easy and painless! other tricks I am not sure and i'll leave other to someone answer that one.

I had the same problem with mine. It just turned out that I wasn't getting a good position with the prybar. I just had a 3' prybar from Walmart and had to really get up uder the car and see exactly what was resting on what and was surprised how easy it finally popped out when I had it in the right position.

The tough one I had was the driver side.

Try tapping the cv hub back into the transmission and then hit the side of the hub fairly hard a few times. Now try to pull the axle. If it still won't come out, turn the shaft about a half turn and repeat the above. Your cir clip may be partly out of the slot and jammed into the splines. The object is to get it to fall completely out or get it back into the slot.
        You gonna race that thing?
