Axle is out again... ideas?

This AM were going down our road (bumpy gravel nasty road), get to the bottom start going up the other side my dad puts it in first and starts to let the clutch out... nothing. we start to roll backwards, try all the gears same thing, quick check and yep, axle is out again and apparently this time far enough that it's no longer engaging the spider gears.

it was raining and crappy out, and all 4 of us had to be @ different places (we have 2 cars and 2 bikes, when 1 car dies and its raining not good)... walked back to our place and got the van, and my dad dropped all 3 of us where we needed to be and then went to work himself, and i cought a ride home w/ a friend, car still @ the bottom of the hill on the side of the road. took off teh axle nut and popped the axle back in the trany with a hammer and drift, drove it back up to the house... now i'm not sure what to do..

i don't know when the axle came out, i can't find any spots of ATF in our drivway or on our road... i guess it could have happened any time in the past 3 days since i checked the ATF last. What would cause it to pop out again?

I know DJ had problems w/ his axle poping out and ended up welding it, however i'm sure there has to be an explanation for why it came out... could the cir-clip be worn out? any ideas???


in other news i did get my new headlight from DJ... things aren't aligned real great but it works,,, thanks a bunch

Check the swaybar and where the LCA connects to the unibody. If either are bent, it could cause this problem.

I found out my swaybar bent outward about 3/4" on the pass side. Everytime I hit a good bump the swaybar was pushing it out. I replaced it and kept the same welded c/v since I didn't have a spare. So I can't say for 100% the new swaybar fixed it.

OK, more or less anserd my own question after a bit of time searching... This Thread did a perty good job of answering it... i guess i'll try to find a new circlip... if that doesn't work, then we'll see.

also i'm prety sure the frame in that area and the sway bar are both still straight...

even if the sway bar was bent since it goes through the LCA, which connects to the frame, in order for it to really affect the geometry wouldn't the frame around where the LCA connects have to be bent?

and or the bushing is worn or torn. I replaced my circlip 3 times.. I hope that's it on yours..
