  • Fuses

Mine is a 93GL. standard, i live in Alberta Canada.. my car cranks but won't start. I've been trying to diagnose the problem. i checked the basics and got stuck at the fuel pump fuse. does it really exist? if so where is it? i don't think its in the fuse block on the dash. does anyone have a list of what each fuse is for? specifically the one for the fuel pump? is it in the fuse block with the rest of them? i also checked the fusible links which all seem to be in working condition

reason i believe its the fuel pump is because i would turn the key to on position and i would hear a noise for a few seconds i no longer hear... I'm just kinda stumped about this fuse.. any help would be greatly appreciated

    thanks

    welcome!

maybe the fuel pump relay? its under the dash right by the fuse box. Try taking it out and running power thru the coil to see if it clicks.
Im not sure about the fuse, it must branch off one of the fuses in the box. Ill go out to the garage and check my book in a minute.
Are you sure your fused links are ok? did you pull them out and check that the connections arent corroded? It seems to be a common problem.

An easy way to check if your problem is really fuel delivery would be to disconnect the fuel line at the filter and crank it for a split second to see if you get gas.

^^ FYI , The pump will not run continually when the car is not running and the key is in the on position .

You may hear it sometimes pressure up and kick off very quickly , by just turning the key on , and not actually starting it .

The pump will only run when turning the engine over .

I am not counting the pump out , just saying you will not hear it run all the time /car not running , like a GM car .

best i can determine from the schematics is there is no fuse for the fuel pump. have you checked the inertia switch under the left rear radio speaker (red reset button)?
