  • Clutch engagement

Just bought a '94 Aspire w/ 122k mi. original clutch from what the previous (2nd) owner is aware of. It grabs fairly high compared to my Mustang which has a cable clutch that engages very low. Maybe 3/4 of the way up. Just wondering where these are "supposed to" engage at. Thanks.

Yep, Festys (at least) seem to have a pretty high engagement point. The Ford manual suggest adjusting the cable so there is about an inch and a half "free" pedal at the top of the "stroke". Of course you can set wherever you like it, but it seems to work best when adjusted per the manual. Since it is the same engine and trans in the Aspire, I'm pretty sure it would be the same.

Put my new clutch in and it engages at about 1 1/2" off the floor....lol...I have gotten used to it pretty much so I decided not to adjust it. Before the new clutch it was...take your foot off the pedal and then it engaged....hahahaha.
