speedometer gear

My speedometer gear wont go back in all the way. Its about 1/8 on an inch from going all the way. Has anyone ever had this problem?

Have you tried rotating it a bit? The teeth could be off a little, causing them not to mesh with those in the transmission.

That's the oil seal - push harder.

Nevermind I got it to go in by tapping it with a hammer.
