  • Fuel Injector Insulators??

Took the fuel rail off to clean out my system. Both Haynes and the shop manuals say to replace the o rings and the "insulators" (shop manual's term, Haynes calls them "grommets"). These are in the head when you remove the injectors. They really do look more like some type of "grommet."

No one seems to have the insulators! There are the little o rings for the injectors where they fit into the rail, but the only other "seal kit" has eight larger o rings of a reddish color. Are these things supposed to take the place of my insulators? They don't look like it.

    Anyone know about this?

I also lost one of the insulators at a shop. Have to go to a yard to get another if I can't get new ones.

Yeah, I've got them. Two injectors w/ o-rings too. Gimme a call if you want them (I would not mind driving over there this afternoon)

Karl , When I replaced all my injector o-rings ,I replaced the insulators also .
I got mine at Autozone , they had them in stock ,
You can buy the whole kit , or individually .

Those are the spacer like things that go between the rail and the injector.

No, not the rail and injector. The injector and the head. These insulators are inside the head itself. They stayed in when I pulled the injectors out.

I think you're talking about those rubber things that "cushion" the injector from the rail. They are like large, squared off o rings.

Dave, thanks, I'll be taking you up on those. Maybe tomorrow?

          I'll give you a call.
