  • Faulty blinker and Gas Gauge all at once.

    Hello..

New to the site and must say great to find folks who share my wife's passion with her car as you all do. She has a Ford Festiva 89 4 speed standard with no power windows locks etc.

This is the deal, blinker intermittently quits with no apparent reason, as well as the gas gauge will go from full to empty, all at the same time.

Checked the "Meter fuse" and all looked well. When the blinker is working & you pull the meter fuse both the gas gauge and blinker cease to work. The fuse is also extremely hot.

Changed the flasher module, seemed to work for a few days but has started to act up once again. Blinker randomly quits working as well as the gas gauge. Traced wires as best as I could and did not see anything that looks loose.

Any ideas on this subject will be greatly appreciated.

loose/bad connection behind the guage cluster?
I know since I owned my car the guage never worked. I put a tach cluster in it and now it works....just a guess.
There are 2 plug connections behind there.

      Thanks for the quick reply.....

She bought this car brand new and just can not seem to find another car that she loves to drive. And seeing how some of the modifications you all have done to your own cars has inspired me to look closer at her car. 8)

Never noticed a fuse so hot before I am a bit worried about that.
