  • Engine dies when put into gear.

So I just fixed my fusible link issue and now when I put the vehicle in gear it dies. It will start up fine and idle without a problem. I put the car in gear and I have to just keep giving it gas otherwise it will die. I'm not too sure what would be the cause of this. Any suggestions???

stefan is right if it is fuel injected. i swapped a vaf meter once and idled rough and almost died so i pulled over and the vaf plug was loose...i felt dumb because i was in a rush plus inspect the hose from the vaf meter to the throttle body for cracks

I don't know what it is but it starts up and goes into gear fine. All I did was check for any type of vaccum leak of electrical problem and found nothing. I don't know what it is. Maybe something just needed to be reset when I did the fusible links.

You may have stumbled onto a connection problem ,and really did not know which one it was .

If you fix too many things at once , sometimes you don't know which one fixed it .
I always try to do 1 thing at a time , then check it , then move to the next thing.

That's what I was doing. I've done that before, work on more than one thing at a time. Not a good idea. lol Oh well it works now.
