  • Timing Belt and Oil Seal Replacement

May sound like a trivial question, but....

I'm replacing the timing belt and oil seals.

I can't fit a socket over the bolt to get the crank pulley off, does anyone know the size of the center bolt that holds the crank pulley on?

Also, I have one of those haynes repair books and it says I should take off the valve cover and use a wrench to hold the cam while I take the bold off the cam sprocket. Does anybody know the size of wrench that would fit this.

Most of my festiva takes 10mm / 12mm / 14mm and I need to buy a set of wrenches, and most don't go up in the higher sizes, 19-20mm. I'm wondering should I buy a set of standard or metric as most likely these parts are metric, but just wondering on the size.

If I recall correctly it was 22mm.

You'll also need like a 24 or 25mm socket to drive in the new seal.

I didn't hold anything....I used an impact wrench.

Otherwise, holding the pulley with a strap wrench (a friend holding it) might work too.
