I have had a big problem with the bushings in my shifter linkage. I swear that I could touch both door panels with as much play as I had. I was having no luck finding new ones and was getting impatient...wanted it fixed before Ohiostiva.
I remembered about bushings for door hinges and went looking for them. Unfortunately I found them at autozone....another member here just had a bad job prospect experiance with them, but...they had them. The package has a few differant size brass bushings , 2 of each, and one set of steel. I picked out 2 that seemed to fit nice for me and used a 5/16 x 2" bolt. After I installed all that....I now have what seems to be a really nice shifting car.
I do not know how much play is supposed to be in the shifter but it is extremly differant then it was...so I figured I would tell anyone that may be in need of a fix.
It is a package in the help section of parts....part number 38374.
