  • 1990 Ford Club Wagon XLT question

I know this is a festiva forum. That's where all the best mechanics are though. My Van wouldn't start today it would just click near the battery. It was hard to turn the key and be under the hood at the same time. I went out and bought a $11 starter solenoid which when installed made a different clicking noise but solved nothing. Later when the wife got home I had her turn the key while I was under the hood and I found the part pictured below was what was clicking. While removing it I noticed that one of the connectors was broke off of it. It has a part # D3AB-14677-AA. Anyone know what it is? Ive tried searching several places to ID it with no luck. Just wanted to know what to call it so when I call around looking for one Ill know what to ask for. Any one know what it is or where I might look to find out? Thanks.

Heya. I scanned through some wiring diagrams, and the only thing I can think of that it might be is the starter relay. The only other component in the diagrams with three wires is an anti-theft module, and that likely wouldn't click.

I was thinking starter relay also. But everytime I use that as a keyword somewhere they always show a solenoid. The part # search gets nothing.
