    Hey. You could use a normally open magnetic alarm switch to automate the light. http://www.smarthome.com/7040.html

    I did a search of the forum earlier for "hatch light" and found two other methods for making a automatic switch. One guy used a mercury switch from a donor, the other guy simply bent a quick connect fastener 90 degrees and fit it into his latch to make the ground. Pretty McGuiver-ish stuff.

      Holy crap....more then a year later the problem is solved!
      this has been covered numerous times in newer posts...Freshtiva, elcaminoone (Will) has a nice setup in his. lol
