O.K., I think I stated this before. Starter have a failure mechanism in them that can be heat related. I believe it is call the commutator. This issue is probably the issue with your starter. If you are hearing "click- click", that is most likely the culprit. Of course, I am assuming that the high current lead is well connected with no corrosion. (If you have not done this yet, verify the connections at both end). Of course there is one more issue worth investigating, sometime the solenoids get "dead" spots on them. They can be quite aggrevating, but they usually give you more problems when cold than hot.
