  • No Power

I have a 1991 Festiva L with a 5-speed. It cranked over fine but the fuel pump wouldn't kick on. So I pulled the battery out and checked the huge mess of electrical plugs that sit behind it. Everything looked fine. So I put the battery back in and turned the key. Now I have no power anywhere. The fusible links are fine, I triple checked them. The battery is good. The only things that turn on are the headlights. Anyone have any ideas on what could be the problem? Any help would be appreciated.

I would replace the main fuseable link just to be safe, sometimes they can look fine but are not. And get the newer type not the crappy wire ones.

Check the battery clamps. I had this problem once, I checked everything at AZ, starter, alt, battery. then finally I
checked the terminals, Turns out the + was loose where the wire clamps in and it just wasn't getting a good
          connection.

I took a finger nail file , the thin board type , trimmed it down to fit in the brown fuse box , to clean up the contacts in mine , before I installed the fuses .
Trimming it a bit makes it easier to get down in the slot to clean both sides .
It is just a little too wide .

I tried everything you guys suggested and still nothing. The headlights are still the only things that work. Anybody have any different ideas? Thanks

Have you checked for voltage coming into and going out of the fusible link?

I figured it out! Turns out it was the ignition switch. Thanks for the help anyway.

Why is there a little 10-amp red fuse behind the other fuse cartridges in that picture?

He probably has fog lights or something up front that the wires run too would be my guess.

I had the same issues once, just lights, everything else dead.

it's those effin fuse links. I have the fuse link wire. you have to take all of it apart, clean it all, and replace the mainlink wire.

I couldnt find one for a festiva so I used one for chrysler I got in autozone, cut it and put matching ends on it.

The wires and connectors might look ok, but if nothing works but the lights, you still have a rotten connector somewhere around those links.

21st friggin century youd think they would dream up something better than putting fuse wire beside a lead acid battery.
