ok well. scratch that. no camera. cant find it. so. heres whats wrong with the axle.

its broke. in two pieces. the end that goes into the tranny is fine. perfect joint very smooth. but the threaded end that goes into the hub or whatever. is broke off and the boot and all is still attached to the hub. and i cant gut that hub nut free. i think its 1 1/8" i dont know what to do. im almost back on the road. and im missing an axle. can i drive it with one axle to a shop so they can deal with it? if not fine. il do it myself.

You will not be able to drive it that way... are you sure it is just not pulled to far apart that it is out of socket? They have room to move with the suspension and it may have just pulled out to far. If not, then all you need is a new cv joint...about 50 bucks depending on where you go. You did take the hub apart where it connects to the strut...right ?

i didnt have to take anything aprt. i was lucky. cause i realized that i had a bad axle on the opposite side. so i broke it. and then it al came out and went in easy. but i made the mistake of putting it all together then lowering the engine in. this time im going to bolt the tranny to the engine then lower them both in and ease the axles in.

im pretty sure its brok cause i have it out of the car. i have it in the den. the part that goes into the tranny. and the boot. area. and then it just goes straight and theres no other boot or joint on it. its still stuck in the hub. im going to barrow a camera. give me 20 mins.

I got the picture now I believe. Once you had it in you should have just left it and then pulled the axel from the bad side by pulling the hub...but whatever works for you. You should be able to swap an engine pretty fast by the time you are done...lol.

HAH! yeah i know. everything jsut goes wrong. heres the list of things that arent working for me. and you can give me your input on how to get it done.

cant get the hub off. AH. maybe try heating it up?
cant get the tranny to bolt up to the engine. theres always an inch gap. and its not wanting to slide all the way in there and the haynes manual says nothing about it.
brok a peice off the engine while i was prying the engine apart from the tranny. one of the ones that plug up. and bolts in. i think the wires yellow on mine. and its a cicular shape blug. hard wire i think. no connectors.

                ok. im ready. and starving.
