  • Auto Transaxle vent and shifting problems

I was wondering if some one could direct me to where the auto trans vents at? I have looked through the electronic service manuals and can not find it. I am thinking that the vent on my tran is plugged. After about 30 min of driving the tran will build up enough preasure to spray tran fluid onto the bottom side of an open hood if the dip stick is pulled out. After it vents the preasure it is fine again. However if the preasure is not vented it will shift as quick as it can into 3rd gear. After it is vented it shifts at 20 and 45 mph. With the preasure not vented it shifts at 10 and 15.... So I think the vent is clogged the only problem is finding it..... Thanks for the help!!!

if you look at the distributor and then look past it towards the trans there is a rubber hose that looks like it goes no where. It is attached to what I believe is the vent.

Would that be the tube that comes out right by the gov. housing?

Ok thank you much for your help Geneva I think I am going to take the plug out and feed the line into a 20 oz mt dew bottle with a hole in the side for the line and a hole at the other end of it at the top to see if tran fluid comes out when I drive it with the plug out and to see if it will stop spitting vapor out the dip stick tube when I y o check the fluid. Sound reasonable to you?

well honestly I am not sure how it works,,,the vent that is. I know Brian (25horesplay) has always had auto cars...he may be able to help a lot better then me. If not I am sure that there are others that just have not seen the post that could offer more help too.

Well thank you much for your help Geneva if we had a Kudos system here you would be getting some. I removed the plug and used a bottle as a catch can drove her for 3 hours no fluid in the can and the car shifted like normal. Thank you very much for the help!!!
