do i really need it?....i mean its just a piece of flemsy metal, and i got a hub out of the junkyard and the plate is all twisted but the hub is in pretty good shape....should i just cut it off to prevent it from falling off while i'm driving???

backplate for front discs?

When I had my slotted rotors pressed on I told the guy to leave out the backing plate for more cooling.
No problems thus far. The hub also looks alot cleaner, and easier to work with.Nothing says "triumph of enthusiasm over physics" like a Front Wheel Drive race car.
