  • Fuel Pump Problem

hey i need some help, 93 festiva, driving it home from work one day i pull up to a stoplight and it stalls(car was very well maintained while i drove it). So i figure my pump was bad.nope.relay..nope
checked the inertia switch numerous times. the pump does not run.
the car cranks over perfectly fine..any insight would be appreciated

are you sure the pump isnt running?
start by checking for voltage at the pump. you say the pump is good? so you tried putting in a good one? then check for voltage forsure

Have you traced the wireing for the pump all the way? Is it possible you broke a ground wire somewheres?

not an expert w/ FI festivas but I'm thinking the ignition switch, or more specifically the ON section of it. I've had some crazy stuff like that happen because of an ignition switch and I overthought it like "computers"

hold up everyone!!!! the fuel pump on the EFI cars DOES NOT prime... ECM doesn't command fuel pump untill it sees engine rotaion (when cranking to start). Mind you this information comes from a factory Aspire manual, but i cant immagine that Mazda changed anything between cars. check for voltage while cranking.

are you sure?.....can anybody with a fuel injected festiva confirm if the fuel pump primes when the key is in the "on" position?

I have heard mine prime just a few times when key is turned on .
]But 99.9% of the time , the pump only runs when it is cranking .
