My favorite instructor Joe brought his camera along during one of my
practice sessions on Sunday. This is on the Level 2 Mid-elevation course

Omgloltokyodrip, did you notice that he's on a closed course with aftermarket rims and tires? I bet they dont crack and break like factory steelies do. And if he gets into a wreck the only thing theres a possibility of him hurting is hisself and the instructor riding with him. NO chance of hurting or killing someone who may be driving home from late evening engagement and happens upon your dumbbutt driving like a complete fool on a public road.
Maybe you ought to watch it again and ask how you could sign up to drive someplace like that AFTER you get your car properly prepped for road racing.

Cool run BTW floydiancomplex. Looks like a blast.

Yep I'm still on the HTR 200s. Tires only last about 8-10 hours of track driving
(about 300-500 miles) from brand new. I just can't bring myself to spend 200
on 1 R-Comp when I get a set of HTRs for the same, besides I am only about
2 secs behind the Schools Spec Miatas which run on TOYO RA1 or R888s so
        I'm not feeling to bad.

You're creative enough, I'd expect to see some higher grip street tires at least, lol, like Azenis or something...

One day I will do the aspire swap and upgrade to 14s. I believe there is a 195/45
rt615 for around 75 a piece. First though is a harness bar and Sparco Sprint 5 seat.

floyd, i'd recomend a shorter sidewall intill you upgrade to the 14s or perhaps 15s. watching the vid showed some good tire rollover (not such a good thing). what for suspention are you running?

The tires are 175/50, I can't get a shorter sidewall. HTRs are known for having flimsy
sidewalls but they are what they are. I am not out there to be the fastest just to have
a good time and learn some great skills. Tires wear out quick on a race track and I'd
rather run every weekend on crappy tires than once a month on R-comps. Even so
the HTRs are actually rather grippy once warmed up esp. when you get near the wear markers. My chalk test shows the rollover is not as bad as it seems, right to the edge
of the tread face but not on the sidewall itself.

Can you run used road racing tires? Like the Hoosiers I run?? Plenty on Ebay, and a few other places...

I spend about $100 a set on my tires.

I can never find any used slicks in my size. I need 20x8x13 for a 6" rim. I know you are
running those C2500 and C3000 tires for ultralight cars which is fine for AutoX but I run
20 min sessions. I need a tire with a higher load rating like the FP/GP tires that can
endure that much pounding for sustained periods. Also I am pretty set on running a 20"
diameter tire, without any power I really have to gear down the tranny for more torque.

Yeah, I can't find any more of the 20x8x13's that I usually use.

I only recently started using the C3000 tires, which hold up fine, and do have a sidewall every bit as tough as the Sumi's you run now....

The old tires I used, with the cantelevered sidewalls would be perfect.... but my guy doesn't have any at the moment...
