I like the size of the door on this garage addition in the city. The glass is frosted to provide privacy, but you could still park a dump truck inside.

After more consideration, I think that merging modern with Victorian architecture is wrong. I would have ordered handmade brick and constructed a garage addition with a door similar to the one on this former firehall in downtown Buffalo. I really like the depth of the archway. Nice shadow lines. However, the only thing I would keep is the frosted glass. a flat lintel would be required to match the existing. I would definitely use the old style interlocking terracotta copings.
