  • Z06 hits gaurdrail at last Fridays Street legals at SIR

A guy I know caught this on Friday night at the street legals in Saskatoon....

sad to see the car get smacked up, but talk is that the guy driving the car doesn't know when to get out of the throttle and talks alot of crap about his street racing stuff so karma could just be in full action here...

90 festiva BP/G25MR swap, spec v seats, aspire brakes, FMS springs, round headlight conversion with HID's, custom exhaust, fiberglass hood, and a whole lotta bodywork

    Ouch that would suck

    1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
    1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

What really sucks is that most insurance companys won't cover a car if its raced in a competative manner.

ya I am actually just trying to find out if our government insurance we have here will cover it or not... If it doesn't that is going to be a pretty big hit to the pocket book.

You have socialized auto insurance? I would assume it would be liability coverage only and not comp or collision. I guess if you can afford to drive a Z06, you can afford to fix a Z06.

our insurance is government run here in sask... when you get plates for your car you also get insurance, that covers the car you and the people you crash into... full coverage, theft, fire, vandalism... all of it. The only thing is there is a deductable of $700 if you need to use the insurance... you can buy a package policy on top of the regular insurance that lowers the deductable to $50 and gives like 2 million liability vs i think its five hundred thousand on the basic insurance... but for example my wifes 2005 freestyle is $1200 for basic plates and insurance for the year and then the package policy that covers glass and everything and also drops the deductable to $50 costs us another $300... so $1500 a year gives us everything on the car...

There's no way SGI will cover that. You sign a waiver when you sign up for the Street Legals saying that you know the actions you will do may have consequences. Also, if he went to SGI, what could he say? If he got into an accident that big on the street, he would have had to file a police report, etc.

So, if you have like 3 cars, does your insurance decrease? What about property insurance for your house? In our private insurance system the premiums go down if you combine your auto and home insurance. Also, I get a discount for multiple vehicles. I have my '04 Mustang GT insured as a "pleasure only" vehicle. As long as I drive it less than 7K miles/year I get a reduced rate.

In Oz, regardless of insurer -UNLESS otherwise stated by individual policy - racing is done at your own risk, and any damages caused to driver, individual, or others in direct relation to such will void any payout of any kind.

Sucks to have to foot the repair bill on that for sure.

SGI only covers vehicles. Also, the insurance cost only goes down if you don't get into accidents or get tickets for a period of time. So, most people, if the damage is low enough in an accident, just do the work themselves and avoid getting dinged.
