They need to run stuff like this here, in the states. Of course there will be those who don't like it because "it's too graphic and disturbing". To them, I say go take a trip through the emergency room at the local hospital the next time there's a crash and imagine it's one of your loved ones being wheeled in.

There's a kid in my hometown who was in a crash. He's in a wheel chair for the rest of his life all because his gf had to text her friends while driving. She walked away.

Harsh, but necessary. Can't even begin to tell you how many near accidents I've seen because of cell phones.

Should be mandatory viewing for everyone who buys a cell phone. IMHO

its a fact, American ads are really weak because the American population is more squeamish than any other large society. I have some ads campaigns that ran here and in Europe. they are completely different yet selling the same product


for all technology gurus, just a theory, why can't cell phone makers make it so you cannot send a text while going over like 15mph using gps im sure they can figure it out.

there is a program you can download that is a talk to text and text to talk....you speak what you want to send and then when you get one it speaks it to you. If you have to do it while driving....there ya go.

I need to show my g/f this she has been through 3 cars in her 2 years of driving lol.. Good thing her dad still pays her insurance.. I just laugh when he tells me i cant drive her rental car because im not insured because me driving uninsured i better then her driving period and honestly if we go somewhere i want to know im safe you know

That clip should be a mandatory viewing requirement in drivers ed. On a side note. That is why I'm a defensive driver. You gotta be driving not only for yourself but for every idiot on the road. I've had some close calls but I've been able to avoid them. I realize that video was to show the hazzards of texting while driving but it don't sit well with me that the 1st car didn't even have a reaction to avoid the collision. Along with the 2nd car smashing into the girl's car. Just my opinion.

Of couse it was just a commercial to show what happens when your not paying attention to what you are doing... Could be with anything not just texting, like putting on makeup of changing the radio we should ban all of that stuff too.. And make every car with a heads up display

good points! but as you know, texting while driving has become the newest big thing. I remember seeing a safety video in driver's ed that showed a woman putting on makeup, a man reading the paper and another man trying to eat breakfast and drive.

The message was the same.... while driving, concentrate only on driving.

Lol, we just talked about texting & driving in my government class today. They did a study in order to send a bill to congress and a person texting & driving is 2X more prone to get into an accident than a person driving with a BAL of .15 or more. I hope they pass the bill of texting while driving nationwide because everytime I've ever been cut off is when someone is on a phone, and if I wasn't watching them, my festy would of been totaled right now.

I understand your point. But will a law against driving while texting actually stop driving while texting? I'm not sure it will. If it would, then I'm for it. I'm just skeptical that it would be effective.

It probably won't stop it since it would really hard to catch it, but it's just like OWI... can't catch everyone, but when you do thats one less off the road.

Pretty brutal. People would take it as, if your a teeny bopper who likes to text & drive you better do it in a big SUV with side curtain airbags our you and your friends will die.
