  • Just foolin around in the B6t

Just messing around. Stock B6T, 2.5" exhaust, worn rear suspension. Granny shifting and its burning thru 1st and part of 2nd. Open exhaust is causing it to b...

Just made a quick video with some gauge shots and some outside the car. Gives you an idea of the acceleration (though some of you are quite familiar)... dont mind the stupid overboost cut. I really need a chip. Thats what happens when you run open exhaust on a stock b6t. You cant control the boost! You actually need a slight bit of backpressure. Or a ported wastegate.

Oh dont mind the oil light either. Its always been like that. I think the sender might be bad.

Need them thar 600lb civic colovers huh?

My immediate plan is to rip the struts out of a certain aspire and use my cut front festy coils in them, should be a lot firmer. Not ebay civic coilover firm but way better than whats on the car now.

I think I may try that VW MK2 coilover setup. 350lb fronts and 300lb rear or something like that. It's not too stiff unless you are peeing blood, lol.

When are you gonna take it to the track? I've been wondering.

Also you know that motor revs to 7k right?

I've known people with bp cars that went by the 6k redline of the stock tach. EGT's and XR2s have a 7k redline.

              That's why I ask.

Good plan. I really like how you did the front suspension experimenting with the Kia stuff, so I have good faith in you being able to make something work well in the rear too. The Festiva front springs are around 110, so I think that should be fine. In addition, you could cut a coil off to boost the spring rate up a little bit. This would help make up for the higher rear Aspire perch, so you could be potentially both the OEM height, but with a higher spring rate.

I agree, I like the watered down "Raceland" version myself, which are 350/250. I think I need to look into getting some once they're back in stock. I hope it isn't too much... The beefy ones that postman101 ordered were the "Rokkor" brand, which were 380/300.

Great sounding and running car though! I'm always impressed by how much more power and fun these little cars can be with another cam and a turbo... displacement here and there helps too obviously!

Well since I made this video I've acquired a rocketchip ecu which bumps the rev limit to 7200 from 6800 I think, and of course raises the max boost etc.

The main problem now is traction and stability, the car is all over the road when you put the pedal down.

Cant afford to get it to the track yet though... and I STILL need to fix the rear suspension up.

Cool, those chips make a big difference. I have flyin4strokes b6t car, and is a stock suspension car with open downpipe and reich racing "chip". His runs 13.9s and would go low 13s with suspension, and traction. Keep us posted when you do. I'll have a "chip" (megasquirt) within 3 weeks.

Yup, it feels quite quick, just roast through the first couple gears though. Maybe better with lower tire pressure and track prep though.

The rocketchip ecu is supposed to be superior to the old reich ecu, better fuel map and you can specify a rev limit (7200 is recommended though). Its also the only ecu upgrade available anymore.

Megasquirt is nice though, might come in the future.

                              ^that's just mean

                              It's a plug-n-play and I ordered an innovative wideband o2.

I'm getting the MS1 with a v3.0 board he adds a chip for timing control. Also getting launch control, flatshift, no vaf meter, and an additional switch circuit for meth/nitrous, and a 2.5 bar map sensor, so it's good to 21 lbs. of boost

He also provides a startup tune.

And yup I'll be keeping my A/C hahaha (retain the title of fastest with a/c)
