If that vid can be trusted, it appears that a leaf blower blowing only air takes an '05 Civic Si from 138hp to 148.9hp, for about a 10 hp increase.

    Now for my questions:

Was that a gas powered leaf blower or an electric one?

If electric, it was probably AC, not battery powered.

I'm guessing it was a gas powered one. Still interesting. Use a very small displacement motor to increase the air intake charge.

If everything is relative (which it may not be), this setup, if integrated into a mild prepped B6 (@ 100hp), could possibly see a 7 or 8 hp increase.

Probably not worth it, especially with the hassle of fitting the leaf blower, figuring out how to hook it up, etc. I'm sure it could be done, but would it be worth it? I don't think so.

Question is, are there superior leaf blowers out there which blow stronger than the one used in the vid? What would this system be like combined with a mild shot of NO? If it could be done easily enough, and the setup would use NO sparingly to make a bottle last a while, it might be worth it.

I wonder what the difference would have been if the intake was sealed around the blower nozzle. It wouldn't be hard just cut a hole in firewall a route a hose so you can control the blower at the same time. Would a converter even put out enough juice to run a leaf blower? I would defiantely inject nitrous in a safer way though. Hehe could use a ultra blower http://www.toro.com/home/yardtools/b...acs/51598.html

Like Karl said the validity of it ? but I was amazed of the increase just by fogging a little in the intake of the blower.
You would have to set it up where it was mounted to where the exh would exit the cabin , and remote throttle to spool it up before a launch  and then small purge into the intake ,a bottle would prolly last a lot longer than usual.

I talk about this to my brother and I might try it on my caviler 94 3.1 auto next week. We are deciding on the dyno bill. I say its my car he pays and he says 50-50. so 60 for dyno with wide band. so maybe next week I will know.

I think it would be hilarious pull up to a Civic and rev your engine at a light then your like hold on and your trying to get your leaf blower running. Possibly you could set up the intake to suck start the leaf blower by revving the engine. Unless you have a large lung capacity

It has been awhile but A few friends of mine have talked about this in the past. We used a isuzu automatic hombre. I think its a 96. well no dyno but I went 18.45 all stock 132,000 miles we used a industrial gasoline leaf blower that has a back pack as the engine is pretty good size. Okay leaf blower install with house a/c filter over inlet blower not running et drop to 18.72. with leaf blower running et went to 17.12 . so it worked. my friend suggest an electric one that way a power convertor and a switch in the dash or wot switch would work for less hasle.. We aslo think this is only good with small engines and maynot move enough air for a 4.6 or 5.7l engine. but it was fun.
$15 for entry borrowed blower and $50 bucks in beer = a good night.

It hurts me to see see someone do that to a perfectly good motor. I cant hardy watch it.
