It's just an ancient steel cable. Never was on a winch. I've been using it for a long long time. Dad's been using it a lot longer than that. It's far from finished.Originally posted by zoom zoom View PostNice! Time to replace a winch cable? Haha that one looks like its all kinked up now..
I'll be working it for years to come.

Oh, I suppose that makes sense. I always prefer to be away from tensioned chain/cable and have it behind me though. HahaOriginally posted by neanderpaul View PostSo I could watch.Mike Holmgren

The windshield is cheaper than a tailgate paint and cheaper than a rear window...
plus you can see it so have time to flinch!
As long as you have the camera rolling you could use the festiva and fire the shot out the window, then yank it before it falls back in the hole!

I guess I should show the gauge of the cable and chain to quickly dispel any thoughts of breakage.Originally posted by 2xclutchin View PostOh, I suppose that makes sense. Well, I'm used to dealing with 1.5 or so inch cable, and we are usually lifting upwards of 5 ton. I get used to that and treat everything as if it were something like that. When that cable snaps, and it did once, things go to a bad place in a hurry. That was all it took for me to treat every lift or pull as such, even if it's as simple as pull starting one of our tractors.Originally posted by neanderpaul View PostI guess I should show the gauge of the cable and chain to quickly dispel any thoughts of breakage.

boy seems as everyone knows how to do this better than u neanderpaul.i would of done it the same way if I didn't have a tractor accessible with a loader.but then u still have to use a chain or cable.the way I see it you were jerking on the pole just light enough to get them out not hard enough to send one through the winshield. geez people lighten up
