Skateboarding day one after many years

...saw that post...was curious what he paid up front for the board. Before all the upgrades.

Bravo. You cant will coordination back, you have to just have at it and see where you fit back. I hopped on a board after 15 years and landed a few kickflips. Then missed two dozen more, board to lower leg repeated times. The tissue on my shins is like permanently pressed down and bumpy months later LOL.

I haven't hit my shins yet. Mine are permanently rippled, lumpy from the old days. I was pretty sure I chipped one back in the day. I felt a "floating" piece under the skin. It got grissle around it and eventually immobilized.

I got the original freestyle board for free. It was a cheap Walmart board. The bearing were crap!

So far I've spent...
$30 for wheels
$19 for bearings

$85 for grip tape, rails, risers, tail bone, and 215 mm independent trucks

So for $173 from ebay, oldschoolskates.com, and amazon I got exactly the board I wanted.

STABLE!
The bushings were way too soft. I cranked them away down, there was still way too much flex, and the bushing mushroomed out. I replaced the top bushing with a nut. An actual steel nut. I was able to get it nice and secure. It turns very little. Stability for the safety win.

I used to own an Original Skateboard Apex 37 Longboard. They have large springs instead of bushings and man did that thing carve! Scary! It was fun for awhile, but I just didn't ride it enough so I sold it.

I used to rock one of these as my primary means of transportation and source of fun.

I got a rack for of boards and get on them once a month probably.
They are about 10 years old.
