Here's what happened:
The guy comes from the far lane into the close lane. Truck flips over the guardrail and cartwheels over the drain to where it lands backwards.

Doesn't look like there was a whole lot holding that crate together. It was kind of nice of the car to deposit him relatively gently on the ground like that, though.
