That is a sweet bike. I use to ride with a coworker who had a VMAX back in the 80's. The original Hot Rod motorcycle. :thumbright:

I still want to put a vmax engine in a festiva. Light weight, powerful, the throaty v8 like rumble, the Shogun family thing.

I had a V-Max... I loved it, but the fellow I bought it from was an idiot, and I got to ride it for about 2 days before it spun a couple of crank bearings... he had put the oil filter on without attention to the gasket, and it was pumping unfiltered oil through it the whole time.

Well... long story short, it was going to cost over $2000 to fix it, as it got into the crank, and the cases.... ugh...

I took it apart, and sold it, piece by piece, on Ebay... ended up actually making over $2000, ABOVE what I paid for it (I paid $2500 and grossed $4500 on the parts)

So, all in all... it was a happy ending...

Fatty ride quaddawg!! $2500 is cheap for that. $4500 is a nice turnaround to a bad situation. Good Job. I might have been tempted to look for for a rough looking, good running max to use your parts on. Knowing me I'd have tried that and then sat on it for way too long.

Yeah, I looked around, couldn't find anything.. I was heartbroken, I had wanted a Max since they introduced them... finally found a killer deal and barely got it over 140 before she spun the bearings....

It was a clean one, and the parts are in HIGH demand... so I made out great. Over half the parts went to Europe....... I sold every single piece... as a matter of fact, the ruined crank was scrapped just the other day when a buddy of mine stopped by, looking for steel to scrap..

Oh, I still have the sidestand safety switch... lol.. must have fallen behind a table, found it when I cleaned house the other day.


I WILL have another Max someday.... ah... so many toys, so little time...

SWEET! thanks for sharing!!! I wanted a VMAX for 10 years before I finally got it. I don't need any other bike. Wanting other bikes is a different story though :wink: I want a little street and trail bike.

I am a fun junkie!!!

It has cost me at LEAST one marriage.... I have so darn many pictures it isn't funny... I am also a picture junkie... I tried to put a shot or two of most stuff we (my 12 year old and I) do and have done.... I still find many missing... LOL..

I love pictures and sharing pictures, I am in the middle of redoing my online photos...

LOL, I just checked and I have close to 13,000 photos on this computer.... We do like to have our fun!

I want a CR500 sometime in the near future
