  • Good day at the yards

Today my friend and I made the trek to transcona to get me a new windshield.

This little guy donated his windshield to my project.

It came out smoothly with some wire, and in no-time it was in my back seat.

I was perfectly happy that i got the glass out in one piece. But my luck was only starting.

MPI had claimed another victim, an innocent little aqua fest, written off for only alittle front end damage.

Score! The back hatch only had a few surface rust spots, no rust around the glass or under the bottom lip. With a little work it will be clean.

$40 for the glass and $40 for the hatch. I left the yard quite happy.

But something was missing... i didnt find any rare goodies! Onto the next yard!

What a shame, a white 93 GL Sport got written off.

Oh well, look what i scored!

Then on the way home we stopped at piston ring for some window glue.

A pretty good day if i do say so myself.

Must be good day for you! Are you going use blue hatchback door on your red one to replace bad rust one?

Yes, I've done major work on the rest of the car, all the rust has been repaired, and ive put on fresh paint. But i ran out of energy to fix the hatch, it was too far gone, with rust and dents, and since its easily replaceable i just got one thats in much much better condition.

rust like that, going under the glass is tons of work to fix. I fixed 2 spots like that on the escort, and its not worth the work, when you can get a clean one for $40

The aqua hatch has a defroster on it. If your car is anything like my '92 the wiring for the defroster should be in place, all you need is the switch. My car even had the fuse installed when I switched out hatches.

Yup, the wiring is there, and i already put the switch in the dash. Thats half the reason i wanted a new hatch, the defroster is a necessity in winterpeg.

Oh man you took off the "Aborigional Peoples Television Network" bumper sticker off. I'd kept that one.
