Custom 5 core radiator.

It is brass, but nobody in my area makes aluminum radiators. I can have one made in oklahoma city....But they quoted me $650. So...I doubt that. Anyhow. The price was right, and this guy is great who does this for me.


Here the radiator is being made. The tanks are from a 1989 jeep cherokee. The core is custom.


All 5 cores.


It is all silver soldered together.


Here the tanks are being finished up. Notice the outlet tube. It is angled and offset. That is because space is at a MINIMUM. you'll see.

I just sat it in there to get a look at it.


The electric fan mounted on. You can also see the outlet tube again and the angle it is at. That radiator is thick.


This is it in the car w/ the bumper. You can see the outlet tube. Tight.


This is a better picture of the outlet tube I was talking about. There is just not very much room in there. When I originally Put the motor in this car, I thought...Yeah...It fits in there pretty nice. But once I started adding everything else I.E. radiator, intercooler, piping, wiring...etc. I realized it was a little more snug than I anticipated.

I realize this radiator looks small in the pics, but it is bigger than pics give it justice. Also this radiator has more cooling core area than the stock GTR radiator. So I think I'll be ok. The guy at the radiator shop said this radiator would cool a small V6. I should be ok. Really, there is just no more room. If I had to get a bigger radiator, I would have to find some other place to mount it.

btw. This festiva will be my street festiva. The next one I build will be RACE ONLY. Lexan windows, complete strip. 1500lbs.

road race, or drag? I am not sure yet. Thinking about a V6 for drag. Or ultra high reving b6 w/ webbers for road race. Next year we'll see.

Fred, your car is still faster than both me and 88FESTIVAGTR. Are cars don't run yet Waaaaa! Rad went in today with fans have to make lower sub frame next. Then pipe the bitch Intercooler and exhaust this week. Lots of TIG and SS.

I guess the only thing I can do now is start claiming that "I'm setting my car up for road course", that way I won't look as bad once you start collecting time slips

I don't want to get all mushy and bullshit, but I remember seeing your car on cardomain a long time ago, and it inspired me even more to start my festiva. I have always wanted to do one, but when I seen yours, I was Like "I got to get off my ass".

I don't think anyone will argue you still have one of the baddest festiva's around. And I know many would argue your set up is better. I am going to try to make this car handle as best as possible, but I really don't think this motor is best for the twisty's. It should scat down the 1320 pretty quick though. Oh yeah.........No slicks for this season. So you still may be king of the 1/4 mile hill. we'll see. BTW....I think your car is bad ass. Really. Now I am sure some fuck stick on the board is going to call me a suck up......so who-ever you are......you can eat my ass with a spoon.

I go to college also, "I'm 23yrs old" But I get grants, and I go to a pretty cheap college and usually have money left over.

There are other alternatives in radiators. I used an aluminum race radiator, originally designed for a Honda Civic, '92-'98 or something. The outfit I bought it from "Full Throttle Racing" have several 400hp+ car running on them, daily driven, weekend raced without any problems. The cost was great $180 for the basic unit, $50 to move the outlet neck to the side of the tank, plus tax. I went in at lunch to order it and picked it up by 5:30 that afternoon. I've run two full days of rallies on it so far with a BP engine, no problems at all, rairly gets over 200°, typically stays at 185°. the only time I turn the fan on is waiting at stop signs and stop lights.
