Couldn't resist, just have to post some pics!

It was a rough beginning to the week, with a Diff Eq's exam this AM, but i was presently surprised by having my GR2's for the rear show up today! I have been trying to put together a cheap street coil-over setup for a while, trying to find the best deals that would meet my specific needs.

I got GR2's for the front a while back and installed them, that was like $96

Then a few weeks ago i got a cheap "coil over kit" on e-bay, that was $25.01

Then I got a pair of rear GR2's (my rear struts are SHOT), another $95.

At this point I decided to go with BlackMagic 10" springs in 150lb front and 125lb rear: $138.95 shipped (should be here thurs or fri).

Pics of what i've got now:

The 10" springs will require about 1/8" of pre-compression if i keep both halves of the adjustor's. If i decide i want the rear a little lower I will remove the lower half of the adjuster for another 1/4" drop (I don't really want my car lowered which is why i chose 10" springs). I'm not sure how much range i'll get in the front yet.

Its not the perfect setup, but it sure is the right price! $165 for coil-overs (w/o the struts) isn't a bad deal.

well, i just had to share, they will be going in in about two weeks...

theres a thread called "the last suspension thread" or something like that, read it, it has some great info!

and there is plenty of other info floating around too, quaddawg's thread on his coil overs etc. A little reading will go a long way!

you sure? lol it was fairly straight forward exam, messed up a little of the cal 2+3 stuff but i hope i did alright. only 9 folks in that class and i feel dumb compared to the rest of them so i'll probobly be at the low end of the "curve"!

springs should be here tomorow or friday! can't wait, even though i can't install them yet, lol.

dropped a new HU in today tho... sold my old one to my bro for $30 then picked up another from a friend for $50, it looks pretty slick (blue instead of red now)..

                          Write up?

                          Nate,

did you ever do a full write up on your coilover install?
I am looking everywhere but can't find it.

How do you like your setup now that you have some miles on it?

I want to lower a little bit but I am worried about the aspire 175/70 13's.
Which are fine using the stock festiva struts but makes the car to far off the ground.
I have the KYB GR2's in the garage but am still waiting on the FMS lowering springs.

I am thinking about going your route.

If you haven't done a write up do you still have Ebay item #'s For the coilovers and springs.

What would you change if you wanted an adjustment ranging from stock height to minus 1.5 inches?

Great car by the way! And I really like your updates!

                          Thanks,
                          Eric

I found them on e-bay, the guy didn't list the spring rates, the vehicle they were for, the spring length's, or anything. Just had a picture and two lines of description, saying they were new never used and thats about it. I saw from the pic that they had alum tophats, which is what i had been watching for, and they were cheap, so i bid and won. I bought them with the intention of tossing the springs, so i didn't care about them, and they looked like 2.5" bodies (once again he didn't specify), so i suppose it was sort of a gamble, but a couple thousand miles later i'm still happy with them!
