  • Check out my Rubberized 1993 Festiva!

Hi all, I thought some of you might get a kick out of this.

I bought a 1993 Ford Festiva L, Auto. over 2 years ago. The first summer i had it me and two of my brothers spray painted it from the lame Green to a Red. Well its been 1.5 years, and thr rock chips were getting pretty bad. It was needless to say time for a new coat of paint.

I had been speakign about it over the last week with a friend of mine who owns a heavy duty mechanic shop for big rigs. She recommeneded a prodcut to me that I now love.

Its Rubberized Spray Paint!! Yup Black car undercoating in a car. It took me from 1pm to 7pm today to do 2 heavy coats of the thin cottage cheese like substance all over my car.

From a distance its looks so good, especially comapred to what it looked like before.
Upclose your gonna wonder what was I thinking. Im sure Ill be getting lots of looks now, but it was worth it. I even did as much of the engine compartment as I could get teh spray paint into!

Hope you like the before and after pics!

it may look odd but i bet you'll see an improvement in Cd and a quieter interior. better milage and quieter, i don't see a downside.

cool! I was thinking about doing the same thing back in the day. Did you use plasti-dip? I have used that stuff on a bunch of automotive parts!

Every car I have owned has had a turbo in it, until I bought this latest festiva.. I plan to fix that though.

I havent even driven it yet since I painted it today... Waiting for it to dry completely.
Ill let you know about the road noise. I drive it hard so any noise reduction would be good!

My wife says the car looks like a giant tire... But ive seen tires much bigger than my Festiva.
I was thinking, when my tires get bald, I can just spray more tread on them with this stuff!

Actually...I think it looks pretty cool. Shouldn't have to worry about much hurting the finish anymore.

That doesn't look so bad. Is it kind of like truck bed liner? My Festiva's starting to rust out pretty bad. Maybe I should Rhino Line the whole thing! Then it would be dynamite proof like on Smashlab.

I thought about this before, but I don't know about improving mileage, festyboy, I remember long ago, bunch of car guys talking about how a good wax job, the smooth finish, improves gas mileage a lil bit by reduced friction. Still, worth it, no rust, no dings....hmmmm.

Years ago, I removed my interior, and sprayed the entire floor with undercoating. It did reduce road noise some......
