"Plastic" Paint

looks like water contamination. Did you let the part dry for a few hours after washing?

Did you sand, then clean, then use a adhesion promoter? 3 to 4 LIGHT coats
w/ 5 to 10 mins between coats? Go to a parts store and ask for some Tal-Strip.
Its in a can and spray it on the dried paint wait 10 mins and wipe that mess off.
Try again. I would just use Dupi-Color with a adhesion promoter and a primer coat.

I'm ASE paint certified and used plastic spray paint. I scuffed the surfaces, cleaned, then used a tack rag gently to clean the surface. The paint just ran off the plastic. Followed all instructions on the can for coating. I have never had this problem when painting plastic before and this is the first time I've used plastic paint, I usually just buy rustoleum.

did you use a wax and silicone remover? It may have had ArmourAll or something similar contaminating the surface, which would just get driven deeper into the pores during sanding.

I have had things like that happen to me when working doing some car restoration. The nice dashes and interiors that everyone armor-alls always have trouble sticking. I use reducer on everything plastic / vinyl. It dries them out of the oils completely.

But, the product as stated may just be crap.

maybe it's a bum can of paint from the factory of whoever made it. Putting alot of fast dry accelerator will make it seem real watery and not stick to the product (like in your second picture) But all the wrinkles??? i don't know. I think the paint was seperated and wasn't shook up enough.

I'm just going to buy rustoleum paint with the money the company is giving back to me. Stay away from VALSPAR paint. I'll need to get some brake clean to strip it off, but I think it'll be ok.

Valspar, really? I've always had good luck with their products. They're the manufacturer of Kosmoski's House of Kolor paint.

Could being in too cold temps cause the paint to ruin? Would it do this?

Just another possibility. What if it were frozen on a semi truck waiting for delivery before you even got it?
