  • Festiva vs Mini

I snapped this picture of my new '89L and an old Mini from the 70s that was parked in front of it. Sorry for the poor quality but the guy was about to drive off when I took the picture.

This is the first car I've seen that makes the Festiva look huge!

Wow yes it does. I cant get over how much lower it sits. Or at least from that angle it looks alot lower.

I parked next to an old mini one time myself and was amazed by how "big" our cars were in comparasion.

Long ago there used to be a house where both a Festiva and an original Mini were parked. I would take my driving students by to see both of them and how big the Festiva looked next to it.

Anyone know how much the old Minis weighed? I think it was around 1600 pounds.

The New MINIs begin weighing around 2400 pounds and up. More like "midi" to me!

My '89 Aries 2 door weighed just over 2400 pounds!

Doesn't the mini roll on 10" Dubs?

                That would help.

Karl, I don't have access to my "35 yrs of Mini" English edition, I picked-up when I was in England some time ago.

...in contrast I(6'8") pulled up in my Festiva next to a guy(5'7") in his Hummer, rolled down the window, leaned out and said "That's right I'm compensating!"

it is small but I think this car is even smaller. I do not have a pic of it next to a Festy but here it is in front of a Kia Sportage that I used to own. I would love to own one....but I am unsure if I could even get into it....lol,

My dad had an old Austin before the Festiva. Back when he was in the military in England. He is 6'2" and he said you wouldn't believe the space that he and 3 others had inside that baby. He always comments how they were built for maximum space inside, minimum space outside. Wishes he could get it back. Brought it back to the states, traded the mini for a Model AA stakebed. Bought a Festy, got out of the military, the rest is history.
Have yall ever seen all the kits they had for mini's? To bad they didn't do that stuff for Festy's. I'd have a miniature Ford GT right about now.

He also had a '65 Econoline Club Wagon "back in the day"...but that's a whole other story. He recently got a '62 to try and rebuild that beaut...it's going to be a beast.
