I'd love to compare the two cars with each other. That junkyard scene is nearly perfect. It would be morer perfecter if they were all in mint condition, though!

My dad had an 80 Fiesta S which was the sport model. He ran off the road going 50 mph and landed on a HUGE 40x40 concrete tank cover. All it did was bend the metal spoiler between the ground and the front bumper, he hit a road sign and dented the right front fender where the reflector light is, busted both front tires and bent the rims. There is a heavy metal engine cradle under the engine and it scuffed it up. Two new wheels and tires and he was off! That was a tough car.

Somebody get the hatches off those, they have wipers and likely have defrost.
Too far for me, right now but that might change!

the old school fiestiva is actually a ford fiesta. they were built in germany and shipped here from 1978-1980. it was powered by a 1.3l 4 cylinder mated to a 4 speed manual trans. this was the only combo offered. it spun its 66 hp threw equal length front axels to help keep torque steer minimal. i could go on and on about em but im sure you guys get the idea. it was later replaced by what we know as the ford escort. we will be seeing the newest version of the fiesta here in 2010. we will get the biggest motor they offer and the least fuel efficient approx 40 mpg....should be a pretty good hit here in the states. i just wish we were getting one of the turbo diesel motors that are getting deep into the 50 mpg range.....

btw if anyone finds a 78-80 fiesta in decent shape i want it. anyone know where that pic was taken? i would gladly buy them both in the pic if the price was right.

Fiesta's had 1600cc Ford "KENT" engine. It was OHV w/mech lifters and they would go like stink! Same engines the first Pintos had (prior to the 2000 OHC). The 1.6L KENT was an excellent engine and was (maybe still is) the base for Formula Ford racing. I had a silver 1980 Fiesta "S" years ago. It weighed 1980lbs, had a factory tach, orange and red striped seats and a factory sun roof. I installed a header and re-jetted the Weber carb. A friend had an '87 Escort GT with the 1.9L HO engine and I could hang right beside it. I was devastated when it was finally too worn out to depend on and parts were too hard to find. I could not find another Fiesta in decent shape and wondered what other small car could possibly be an adequate replacement for my Fiesta? Then I test drove my '93L and it reminded me of the Fiesta. The rest is history!

There is a dark blue one in the yard i frequent right now. No body damage. Intact glass. Fulla spiderwebs. SIGH.

I never looked if there is a fiesta club on the intrawebz, think ill go read.

Woohoo lotsa grassroots motorsports hits. Few SCCA race cars and stuff. Now that thing would be killer with the b18 swap everyone puked at in the grey festiva thread. I'd do it.
