    i got these in an e-mail and thought i'd share




    These are actually iceburgs!!





    These pictures i guess were taken in the arctic where the tempuratures are so cold they froze these waves instantly when they broke through the ice and hit the cold air

                Can anybody tell what city that is in the first picture?
                I've been up in the Sears tower in Chicago when there were low clouds and all you could see was the top of the tallest buildings spooky!!!

                  the email said the first pics was taken from the tallest building in the world in Dubai

                      I'm afraid that as a beautiful a sight as those are they are not frozen waves.
                      Those are compressed ice and snow that depending upon their composition/crystal structure are opaque or transparent.
                      Then just like what happens geologically, the various layers are folded, bent, thrust up over time by movement of the water or land beneath the layers then eroded to reveal what you see there!

                        you could very well be correct, i was only going by what was said in the e-mail :lol:

                            Hey, it makes them no less beautiful for the fact that they are not waves!
                            Actually, it means that those "waves" are likely 100's if not thousands of years old isn't that more interesting in and of itself?
