      Kyle
The engine was from a 94 MX 3 auto. I bought it off Ebay for 175 bucks plus shipping. It had 112K miles so I went for a full rebuild. Blueprint, Balance, .010 overbore, new valves and pocket port job. It cc's at 9.8 to 1 and a pair of adjustable cam gears. The rest is stock.
At first I tuned it with 40 MM TWM EFI throttle bodies and a 33" long 1.5" 4 in to 1
2" cat. 2 1/4 ex. It made about 122 to 125 HP @ 6900 to 7100 rpm at the wheels and it passed Houston smog test. I made the header and the intake to mount the throttle bodies. That was pretty good, very drivable a sleeper on the street.
I was getting all of the parts ready to do the Turbo Mod.
The Turbo is a stock VJ 11. I made the header to turn the turbo around so I could have A/C and a good 2 1/4" down pipe and a 2 1/4" cat with the same EX. The intercooler is from a T bird I think.
It will make 2 PSI boost @ about 2800 RPM and full boost @ about 3900 RPM.
The EFI is a Pectel T2, injectors are 440 cc and a 195L fuel pump. The rest is just generic efi parts. I mapped it from scratch with a Motec PLM just driving the car around on the street and when it was close, 2 or 3 hours on a Dyno Jet.
I made the intake from .080 6061 sheet alum, 2" u bends and 1/2 plate. The runners are about 8.5 " long and are tapered 6% over the length. There are 1 1/4" tall stacks in the body of the intake. I used a stock maita throttle body and IAC.
I also made the pulley set, 12% underdriven and to mount the 36-1 REF wheel. I also wanted to get the spacing right for single 4 grove belt to drive everything Alt,Water pump and A/C. That gave some extra room crank pulley to the frame.
I'm using a 3 puck bronze clutch disc and a double spring 180 mm pressure plate. It slips alittle at the 14 PSI boost setting. It is a pain in Houston traffic. When I swap the gear box I'm going use a 200 MM disc.
The Dyno runs DJ posted were on 92 pump fuel. One at 10 PSI and the other with a gated valve set to 14 PSI. The dip in the 230 HP run was wheel spin on the dyno. I'm sure it would have made 10 more lbs of torque if I could have used full throttle earlier in the run. That was full throttle @ 4000 to 4200 RPM.
I shortened a pair of Koni 2x adjustable coilover struts 5" from a E30 BMW for the front of the car. I'm on the 4th revalve and it's real good.
The rear is a stock rear 911 shock body with a welded on ring to hold the spring purch. I revalved it 5 or 6 times and it is also pretty good.

I did the Aspire brake swap front and rear.

I'm looking for a LSD for the F or a G gear box. I like the F better with a .97 4th from a Escort F box. That gearing gets you 116 MPH @ 7200 RPM in 4th. Should be pretty good for a 1/4 mile run. The Pectel has data logging and I have made street runs from 3 or 4 MPH to 7300 in 3 ed gear @ about 106 MPH with a stock gear box in the low 12 sec range. I know that's not real. But I really hope the car will break into the 12's with some suspension tuning.
I'm also looking for a used Motec ECU so I can program some traction, launch control. No luck as of yet.
I want to take the car over to Baytown before it gets hot here, But I don't want to break the gear box, I'm not ready to swap it yet.
Still looking for the LSD and Lite flywheel.

Well that was alot of typing for me, I hope I can help someone with idea's

              Hi ...............Thanks for the praise
I haven't done anything that's really out there. Everything that I made can be done with pretty basic tools except for the pulleys, which take a lathe.
You could make the rest with a MIG welder, Alum attachment, hole saws, hack saw and some drill bits. I used U-Bends and some plate. Stainless is much more difficult to work with than Alum or mild steel.
The EFI tuning can be done very well with a Wide Band O2 meter, or at least a heated O2 sensor and a good volt meter. Lots of data is available on line on how to do it.
I didn't realize that the on line car club how to's were so big. I would have taken more pic's. But I didn't know this site existed, but I crossed paths with DJ by chance last summer.
I really don't know very much about Festiva/ Mazda parts and I'm learning all the time. I bought the 92 GL 14 months ago and have been working on it in my spare time ever since and I'm having a great time with it. As part of my job I have worked on Road Race cars for all most 20 years, so I've done alot of tuning.
It's not the one great part you have, but the combination of the parts you put together.
Make a plan, research, measure 3 times cut once and gain knowledge though careful tuning and testing. That is how I came up with combination I put together. I bought almost everything off Ebay or 2ed hand.
Thanks for the heads up on the LSD, I'm really trying to fix the F box.
