  • My Little Project

Just a quick rundown before I post some before and after pics. I joined a year ago this last December after buying an 90s efi, unfortunately, automatic. I purchased it because I was strictly wanting high gas mileage. As most know autos don't get quite the gas mileage a 5 speed does, so I fixed it up and sold it. Well, I hopped on Craigslist and found this little 91 L Plus fixer upper in Jan of '98 and also found Levistiva the same day. So, I went from 1 Festy to 2 Festys at the same price and the same day. I had to go to Minnesota to get this one and Levistiva became my main ride.

Anyways, as most know, I have acquired a couple more Festys over the last year, many in better shape, so I delegated this one to be a parts car due to damage, high mileage and rust. As Festys have come and gone, I kept this one because it ran so darn good. Thought maybe I'd get around to transplanting this motor in a better bodied car someday.

Well, a few weeks ago, my Dad asked what I was doing with that L Plus. Told him nothing in particular and he said he would like it to drive back and forth to the farm, which is about 100 miles round trip, a couple times a week. Figured since he has helped me uncountable times, it is the least I can do. Fix it up a bit and just give it to him.

History on the car is, 220,000 miles, and hit a concrete median on the driver's front.

Disassembled all the bad parts. Replaced, all done by myself, rack, rack boots, tie rod ends, left front bearings, rotor, tuneup, fender, hood hinges, bumper, brows, corner light, headlight, and had to rewire the corner light connectors. Buffed it out and waxed it.

Things that I will do at a later date is fix an exhaust rattle, sandblast and repaint wheels, replace driver's door, replace hatch, replace rear hubs, brakes, and emergency brake cable.

Understand, this car is not fixed up to win a car show or anything like that. It is just a transportation vehicle, so it's not even near perfect and has many flaws.

Holy WOW! You should be quite proud of yourself,, that's great work. I know it's "just" a transportation car, but that's a big transformation. Nicely done!
If it has boobs or wheels, sooner or later you're going to have trouble with it.
