Late last night I heard a noise out back where I keep the Festiva I bought for parts. I went out my front door and snuck around the back. There I found two mexican guys trying to remove the rack and pinion, and they almost had it out! Once they saw me and I started toward them they went over the hill and ran down the railroad tracks. I kept their tools! Funny thing is I probably would have given it to them if they had asked me for it. Anyway, today I started taking it apart to get rid of the shell. I don't want to attract any more attention! I plan on keeping the back half to turn into a trailer. I figure I can practice my rust repair skills on the trailer first then tackle the '88.

Growing up you wouldnt let the mexicans in the area see you take a part off a car becasue they would try to strip it that night. Glad nothing got taken and you got some free tools out of the deal.

I set the bag of cheap tools at the curb today. They were gone when I got home! I asked my neighbor if she saw who took them and she said a mexican lady stopped in a FESTIVA and picked them up. Go figure....
as far as the trailer goes I was thinking about closing it up with the back panel from Ford pickup. If you've ever looked at a truck with the bed off you'll know what I mean. It's formed into little channels for strength. Maybe I could even use a truck rear window and seal.1988 L - aka: Underdog
