The car looks pretty good, maybe a little rust ,but atleast no big dents, and I think you can get a good paint job from Maaco

Welcome aboard - you'll find many answers with the search function - you can peruse through the interior/exterior mods section to find stuff we've done to our cars and t discover parts that swap over from other cars. Scroll through the Engines section to see what motors and transmissions you can bolt into your little wonder - some are direct bolt in others requite modification and custom brackets

Maaco will do a good job if you do all the prep work. I take all my stuff to a local dealer and if it is prepped/primered and all the trim is off they will spray it for $200 close to maaco's price but a better finished product. I have seen some decent maaco jobs, but it wasn't all maacos work.

Ok, so I went to maaco today, and got an outrageous estimate. For the little bit of rust my car has, and a small dent here and there, they want $787.50 just to fix that. All together for the "cheap" paintjob, they want $1351.44. If I want the door jams and under the hood painted, it will run me $1617.84! I was shocked when they showed me these numbers. I'm thinking of mudding it myself (which I have NO experience at) and using a rattle can! How difficult is to repair rust and dents?

I do my own rust and dent repair...I'm learning as I go. Depends on where the rust and dents are, and how bad they are, as to how hard the repair will be--and what you are willing to live with.

For rust, you can sand it/prime it/paint it, or you can use a paint-over-rust product like POR-15 or Rustseal http://www.kbs-coatings.com/KBS-RustSeal_p_2-18.html

For dents, try getting a bodywork hammer and dowel from a McParts store. Small taps is best. Sometimes a rubber mallet is called for.

Ok, so I figured out how to make a photobucket account, so I will show the rust spots and dents. I tried to circle them in paint if they were not very big, but you can barely see the circles in the pictures.

Store your photos and videos online with secure storage from Photobucket. Available on iOS, Android and desktop. Securely backup your memories and sign up today!

I did all the prep work before taking my car to Maaco, I removed all the lights and everything else I didn't want sprayed. All they did was spray it. It been about 6-7 years now!
