How do you think you get alt. starters, VAF meters, ECU/ECM's, axles, cylinder heads, calipers, engines, trannies from autozone/O'rielly's/Napa.

People buy cores so they can be rebuilt. At least take the time to save all of those items, throw them in a massive pile. Call the companies when you are done stripping them.

Some core calipers can go for 5-15 a piece! 60 calipers...300-900 dollars alt/starts/compressors 10-15.....no matter how rusty of locked up! 600 for starters/alt's.

Just something to keep in mind from a concerned festiva owners.

^^ True that. And carbs, definitely carbs. When I tried to buy a "new-rebuilt" carb for Batstiva a few years ago, Advance + Autozone couldn't even order one because the rebuilder didn't even have 1 core that they could rebuild.

How many core parts from festiva actually make it to rebuilders....little to none. It's only a matter of time to where those parts won't be available at all.

I bet if someone walked into a autozone and asked for a starter for a 72 corolla they would either be laughed at, or handed a 160 quote.

^^ 475.00 for a rebuilt carb. I walked in there with cash in hand, and they couldn't get it.

Wow everyone acts like Tony is the first guy to part out a car and miss taking off some parts. I believe that even if we don't agree on what should or should not be saved these are Tonys cars and he has every right to do with them as he please's. I have my thoughts as to what I'd save if I were doing it, but would I need to save every single useable part? Probably not.

These were taken off the road long ago. I think personally I would rather have a pile of parts available in a shed in ten years then have them rusting to pieces out on the road somewhere getting a salt bath every winter.

I feel what your going through Tony I had a yard with 50 or so international Scouts and they are all gone when scrap went up yes it was sad to junk that many but you really cant save them all. I saved what was good and yes there will be things missed I find things I should have pulled but didnt but I lived a learned. I love these little cars and look at it this way could have been bought by a scrapper who took off the converters and wheels and recycled them then crushed them all flat. Keep up the good work and save what you can

I like festy wes's idea....save all the core stuff you can and then contact a major rebuilder...at that rate A) you can make extra dough instead of scrapping B) you could possibly become a regular core supplier to some large rebuilder outfit

Exactly the point. I mean I dont think anyones under the delusion that there were 30 roadworthy Festivas sitting there. Out of 30 there was what maybe 5? So that leaves 25 with alot of good useable stuff or not so good but good for a core.

Just so everyone knows,we did pull all the starters, alts, water pumps, batteries etc.We have several piles started behind the garage and when we are done we will sell all cores. Also, there were many, many parts missing on most cars.Went to take calipers off one car and they were gone,so were catalytic converters, heads, carbs, maf's,distys. This guy has been selling parts for quite some time.I still have found only 1 useable e-brake cable.I have all good wheels(alum or steel) behind garage.I will keep all good tires and there are more than I thought.
As for harnesses,I am not taking any complete ones out.If someone wants to come do that ,they can have it.
I also havent found one front piece of carpet to keep.Either holes,or rips are there.I have kept a few seat covers, seat mechanisms, knobs, all switches, speedos and tachs, fuel pumps and sending units.
If any body is good,I mean light rust,I keep it.If it has rot , it goes.
Oh,I have sold 4 complete cars and kept 3 for myself and family.
I have tons of glass and seals.I am even going to cut good rear quarters out , I just need to figure out where to cut them .
