This is just a suggestion on cutting out quarters....at the top, cut thru the B and C pillars about 3 in up ( window opening area ) ....at the front of rear door jamb, cut about 3 in or so away towards front of the B pillar thru rocker panel.....cut about 3 in away thru floor back to rear tail panel leaving inner qtr and rear fender well intact and a part of rear hatch....at rear of car cut so that you retain the taillight section of rear panel....that should salvage enuff of the qtr to make it usable and probably the least amount of cutting......and your time.....then you let whomever buys one from you do the most work as to how they want to cut and attach the new qtr to their car.....you may even want to cut around the rear strut mount and leave that also for buyer...and although the part you get off in the end will be slightly heavy, there will be enuff left for any buyer to salvage whats really needed....ive cut up about 100 cars in my lifetime and always tried to do the least amount of cutting to save time, gas, etc. and cut thru the thinest sections to speed things up...again, just a suggestion....let the new buyer do most of the work for what he needs, at least your giving him something to work with....my .02 worth.( i dont have my car available to me right now to actually go out and take measurements )...btw, for any readers...they are his cars and he can do as he wishes with them....at least they are being made available to peeps here on this site and thats a plus right there instead of having some previous unknowing owner send them right to the scrapper..ive gone thru 9 yards so far in the last month in three different states and only found one car, the rest are history and this is from past experience of knowing that these yards have festys....besides the tinworms dont care about our obsession anyway, they just want the highest scrap price they can get outta the remains...1992 festy GL, loaded, stock, 79 K

As for harnesses,I am not taking any complete ones out.If someone wants to come do that ,they can have it.
I also havent found one front piece of carpet to keep.Either holes,or rips are there.I have kept a few seat covers, seat mechanisms, knobs, all switches, speedos and tachs, fuel pumps and sending units.
If any body is good,I mean light rust,I keep it.If it has rot , it goes.
Oh,I have sold 4 complete cars and kept 3 for myself and family.
I have tons of glass and seals.I am even going to cut good rear quarters out , I just need to figure out where to cut them .
Great that you have been able to pull so many parts.
You and others will need them as the years past.
20 or so years ago I started pulling parts from 61-67 Ford Econolines.
Very happy that I did this.
Hard to find these anymore.
Festivas will be harder in a few more years to locate for parts.
Even now, lots of new Festiva parts can't be found.
Again thank you for doing your part so others can keep these great little cars on the road.

I notice you said you were keeping batteries. Be very careful. There was a metal yard here that had a battery breaking operation: ie a guy with a big hammer that would smash the batteries for the lead. The juice or electrolyte or acid or whatever it was just ran into the ground. Time passed and it was time to sell the property. The environmental inspection found the acid had transported the lead to the groundwater. Long story shorter: Million dollar cleanup. Be careful with all fluids that aren't distilled water if you are on any sort of commercial sized property that the bank would require an environmental inspection for prior to sale. I forget if antifreeze is a problem for anything besides cats. It would be easy to check. Degreaser or dry cleaning fluid is The Worst.

but did you really have to post pictures of what looked to be good salvageable cars being scrapped?
for that, i think you should be shot
i have spent a lot of time trying to keep Festivas around and i have only scrapped two(one with no frame rail to speak of and one with way too much frame damage that would not pull out with my frame rack)
then there is the way you handled everything after you bought the 30(after which i assume, you had to move all of the cars within a certain time-frame)
you first started parting out bits and pieces then gradually moved up to engine and entire cars.
the two day notice to pick and pull your own BLEW MY MIND
in all this time, you would not admit that you bit off more than you can chew
instead of trying to post here for serious ideas on how to deal with these cars, the little dollars signs floating in your head impeding your judgment
and i like this quote
"For every-one that is taken off the road makes all of ours more valuable because you cant find these cars everywhere.... "
is this pro or con?
i go to my local scrap yards and can't find squat
getting off soapbox (putting FB71 on it to keep warm )
gotta go to work
I am the original

I think everyone should let TONYCASH do what he wants with HIS own cars, He offered every car for sale to anyone who wanted to buy a whole car, if you didn't buy a whole car from him, then stop complaining about what happens to them now
1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor
1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)
If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?
