  • new paint- long time coming.

Well, I had this car pretty much ready to paint back in May, but then got in a bit of a mix-up with a Corolla while I was on my CBR929rr, sending me to the emergency room for a while. But, NOW, its done. Check the new paint job and graphics. I've noticed, too, that nobody else is putting bigger wheels on their Festivas. Check the 17's on mine.

'89 L! -shaved, lowered, 17's, and two 10"subs. B6swap. Candy tangerine, flamed, painted carbon look hood/stripes. AND the roof glows in the dark... That was a dumb idea.

The roof glows in the dark. At first it was supposed to be one of those mini cooper knock-off things, but then I added the glow over top of it. I would have painted it orange, but there were a few weird dents that I just didn't feel like fixing. The white hides them, whereas orange would have revealed them. The wheels are (I think) Primax. I don't know what style, but I bought them off a guy who had them on his Accord and needed money.

Very nice paint job and slick exterior.

Have you thought of getting clear corners. IMO, the car would look much better

swap what? the aspire suspension? I've heard its stiffer. stiff is good. I've got the springs over-compressed, so it may feel the same.

Does the glow in the dark paint really work?
If so, where did you get the powder from?
If not, do you know of one that does?

                  Thanks!

its House of Kolor stuff. I comes in a 4-or-so-ounce can. I used almost the whole can just on the roof. It works really well, though. They say that it is colorfast, which I suppose means that it gets worse over time. I haven't driven it at night enough to get a good look at it, but it was cool in my garage! Painting it sucked. I would put a coat on, then turn the booth lights off to see if it was even. I had to do it a few times, 'cause its transparent for the most part. I was going to do graphics down the sides, but never did. It would be wicked to be cruising at night, and then go through an intersection with people's headlights hitting to sides of the car, and drive off with a big glowing flaming skull or something down the sides of the car. Maybe later.

                      Wow!
That's awesome that it actually works!
I've never seen a car that had it done - just pictures on the internet.
If/When I plan to shoot it, it'll probably only be the outline of some flames or some smaller graphic - I'm still a newbie when it comes to painting (just painted my first car), so I'm trying to take it all in stride.

Wow - 4oz's for the whole roof - that's not bad!
Any idea how long it stays glowing?
I've seen eBay stuff advertised that says green last for 4-6 hours - just wondering if that's typical eBay hogwash or actual truth.

                      Thanks for your help!

Honestly, I don't know. That would be interesting to see how long it will glow. I'll try it soon.

I gotta apologize, in my excitement I forgot to tell you how COOL that paintjob is!
                          :notworthy:

How do you do that carbon fiber look?
That's totally sick! At first I thought it was a sticker until I read your sig.
Does the Glow Powder effect the color of the paint underneath?

I'm going to try to paint my Festiva a Burgandy/Maroon with a Orange/Tangerine Pearl. I was thinking of going with a 2-tone, either a black or white top.

If you're interested, here's a page of the car I'm painting:

                              Yah!
I saw how you and a couple other people in here are at Atco sometimes.
I live like 10 mins away - back when my Javelin was running I was there every week.

I used to surf Harvey Cedars, still go back from time to time.
Man, it'd be cool to see the Festiva with a couple boards strapped to the top! 8)

Lemme know when you're in town and I'll do the same!
