  • Flat black Festiva gets new exhaust and new shoes...

I've been pretty bored lately, so I decided that I was tired of the Festiva being so quiet...

Of course, more noise outside means more noise inside. It was a little too loud inside for my liking, and I had a half roll of Dynamat like material I was given. Quieted it up quite a bit inside, but it could still use a bit more...

    Some sound clips...

This is what happens when you dont have a girlfriend, you do stupid pointless crap to your daily driver/winter beater. Welded a cherry bomb glasspack in pla...

Had my dad drive the car for me so I could see what the new muffler sounded like outside the car, and decided to video it. I told him to floor it, he didnt...

Then, while browsing the local online classifieds, I came upon these for $100, and I couldnt resist. The difference in handling is unbelievable, though I need some tires with a lower profile. One centre cap is missing on the passenger side, so I have to start searching....

They are ASA's, guy was running them on a Pontiac Firefly. Pulled the rear struts out of the parts car today, what a p.i.t.a., both bolts broke that go through the bottom of the strut, despite being soaked in penetrating fluid all afternoon then heated. Had to sawzall a bit of the rear suspension to get them out. Got them out, and now the bushings are stuck quite solidly on the car. I just cant win.

Anyways, plans for the near future are swap all four struts from the parts car to the black one, and cut some coils out of the springs to lower it a bit. One of the lower bolts on the rear struts on the black car is busted too, so its probably going to see the sawzall as well, then the welder. I hate rust...

I'm such a pushover for a flat black car! Reminds me of the early 50's Rat Rod style, which I'm completely endeared to.

        It totally rocks, man!

Focustiva: Because I was told it was was impossible to fit a Focus bumper on a Festiva.

Thanks man. I miss that car more than anything, it was my baby, and I went through alot of stuff with it. Gas hit $1.40/litre in summer 2008 though, and I spent hours chasing down electrical gremlins, almost every single day. That car was so full of toggle switches turning on and off seperate compontents because the wiring harness needed to be replaced. I finally just gave up on it...

Nice bike, IdealSociety! Might have wanted to clean that huge spot of bird poop off the beamer before taking that pic.
