Yeah, that's what I meant. An amazing little trick probably very few regular owners (i.e. not forum members) know about.
Edit: one of my cars has Escort GT seats with the separate headrests. Hopefully it will work with them too; I'll check tmw. Thank goodness we're not stuck with the integrated headrests; just go get something else to swap in! The Mitsu seats in Casper don't fully recline unfortunately.

According to my Aspire owner's manual, only some Aspires have folding rear seats. Maybe the 4-doors don't. Anyway, I have the split folding rear seat, and the rear seat trick can be done on Aspires too--in principle. Aspire rear seatbacks aren't straight up and down on the outer edges, they flare out. To do the seat trick, some plastic would have to be cut.

The front seats have integrated headrests, so they'd have to be swapped out for early Festy front seatbacks. I tried the seat trick on my Festiva with Escort GT front seats, but the Escort seatback reclining mechanism does not recline as far as Festiva ones do. Still, the seat trick with rear seat alone would be worth doing, esp. for little kids on a long trip.

I just found out a new tidbit of info on the festiva. After 17 years that doesn't happen too often. The manual belts have 2 upper mounting points! 5.0 Zone told me right after I was showing several people the back seat tricks.

True... But if you have the LX covers, you would have a hole exposed (in the LX covers) if you used the lower mounting hole.
