  • Cut springs

Well, I've been uploading pictures of my 92 GL I bought a couple months ago elsewhere (custom audio, gen discussion, etc.) and this is a good chance to put them here. I need to start a progress thread at some point.
Anyway, today I had some free time and decided to cut the springs to lower the car a bit. The previous owner replaced the shocks with KYB GR2's so I left them alone. I cut 2 coils from the front springs and 1.5 from the rears. Definitely like the look better. It will need an alignment but it is still drivable. Feels like the rear stiffened up a little too. Here are some photos I took this afternoon.

Thanks guys. Yes, I definitely want to replace the wheels but I'm waiting until I do a brake swap. Window tinting is also in the to-do list

Your car looks about the same height as with FMS springs now. Thanks for posting the pictures. I have been thinking of slicing a coil off stock fronts to gain a little negative camber on Shtinky, and even the front and back up a smidge. If your front strut mounts have the offset studs, you can flip them over and gain 1/2 degree positive camber, and that should put your front end just about where you need it to be if you think it went too far in the negative direction. I like the extra camber for cornering myself, but I drive nothing but twistys for my commute. Looks really good! You could use dual pattern wheels if you want to make the switch now. I have been running that type with two of the three sets of Konigs now for a few years, but still haven't done a swap on any of mine yet myself. Can't seem to find a good donor here.

I did the aspire brake swap and replaced the wheels/tires. Also added an old school celica gt decal (the decal was old and I was going to throw it away) to see how it would look. No rubbing at all with the cut springs and 13" wheels (38mm offset) with 175/70 tires. The wheels/tires are also less recessed in the wheel wells than the stock steelies.

All you gotta do is read the whole thing to find the answer. Basically anytime you mess with the suspension it isnt a bad idea to get an alignment done. Others may disagree, but I doubt it.
