  • mmm this is nice

So i found a wrecked capri xr2 in the junkyard and i knew i had to have the trans, I got the transmission, flywheel, starter, clutch, and intermediate shaft for $280, best of all it suposedly only had 130k miles on the clock. And with winter coming up i asked my mom if I could borrow a space in our detached two car garafe to work on it, and she said i could so i got the festiva in there and now i am going to be doing my aspire swap too.

That's pretty awesome, you going with FMS suspension? Shame you're not going to repaint, that'd be the perfect time!

i got the front and rear tranny mounts, but like stated i cant use them and i have to custom make them. but the front is trashed, and i am going to try and use the top half of the capri mount to try and solid mount it to the crossmember, i am going to try and make all my mounts as solid as possible. I bought some 80A two stage urethane that i am going to use to fill the side engine and front trans mount. I may paint it if i can get a cover for my dads mustang that is parked to the right.

Solid mounts work nice but trust me, they cause a ton of vibration!!

I think I can live with that, ive got my lincoln for when i want a nice smooth ride. the festiva may be going turbo as well, if i can figure out what other turbos i can adapt to a stock gtx manifold other than a vj-20.

I have solid mounts in my festiva and i said the same thing "i can live with it" and to be honest it's getting annoying listening to the vibrations it causes and i want to switch it back to rubber mounts

It is your car and you can mount it however you like (<--- that sounded dirty :lol, i'm just giving my opinion on it before you make your mounts

haha yeah i understand, but I may only solid mount my rear trans mount if i have to. The rest will be stock rubber mounts filled with shore 80A polyurethane so they will still have "some" give but not nearly as soft as stock rubber mounts.

I just got lucky, I found this one in KRAP about a month ago and i went back for it last week and i thought it was scrapped because it wasnt where i had last seen it, and i asked one of the guys that worked there if he knew where it went, and he said if they moved it they scrapped it. So i was upset but i kept looking anyway and sure enough i found it in one of the back aisles and i went back for it the very next day so i wouldn't miss this chance again.

I could spend 8 hrs in that place and not find what I am looking for, lol. I went there with my brother and walked around for like 2-3hrs looking for protege LX mirrors and only found one set that looked like some one beat with a tire iron.
You should go there with me before it snows, I need to get some stuff for my future bp install. I want to make sure that if they crush all the egt's I at least get the sensors and whatnot I need to install an engine I buy off the shelf at another yard. I figure with you experience and extra set of eyes maybe it won't take all day.
