  • My Kia Pride

    well here she is, nothing special.

    1996 1.3i LX.

    as you can see i've removed the interior. this is because i will be putting in loads of power cable to another battery in the boot, sound deadening all of it and then building a wall for the subs. i'm looking to get a higher score than what i did last year (154dB), when i was competing in dBDrag SM3-4.

    i bought the car for one purpose, to fit the install in, but i have to say this car has really grown on me for some reason!

    i know this might sound silly , but would you mind posting a few pics of the engine compartment. it would be interesting to see where everything is on a right driver!

      Actually, to us in the US, it is special! We never get to see a right hand drive, 5 door Kia Pride! Very cool!

              Darn!

              I know some Prides had it but I never saw how it was hooked up.

                  It's the opposite side of the car that the bonnet is!

                  Thanks :wink:

                    here's the engine bay, needs a bit of a clean and some attention to a few areas.

                    just thought about the cruise control, Tim. that would be very rare to find especially in this country, as all the roads twist all over the place. i've never owned a car with this feature and don't know anyone that has ever had it in their car, ever. that's how it is over here

                      What's a bonnet?

                      The boot is the trunk

                          word use

                          I thought I'd post a few translations, my wife is English and I have had to become bi-lingual as a car guy.
                          English American
                          Boot = Trunk
                          bonnet = Hood
                          Wing = fender
                          Tyre = Tire
                          Back box = Muffler
                          Spanner = Wrench
                          Gearbox = Tranny
                          motor route = Freeway
                          B road = Back road
                          roundabout = traffic circle
                          Yank tank = any large American car
                          damper = shock
                          Petrol = gas
                          lift = elevator
                          Lorry = truck
                          snog = kiss
                          football = soccer
                          the filth= the cops
                          car park = parking lot
                          torch = flashlight
                          fortnight = two weeks
                          that's all I can think of off the top of my head, depending on what part of the UK and how thick the accent is also determines how bad Americans would need subtitles, my wife thinks it's funny when American shows use subtitles when English people talk, but then I'll look at her and say I have no Idea what that guy just said.

                            Some of the stuff she says is a foreign language to everyone outside of my family...

                            At work people think they're calling long distance when she answers the phone.
